AMP Outernational & Jstar – Holy Rastafari 7”
Welcome to the first of an irregular series of posts where I highlight some of those singles that have slipped under the radar. Hopefully they will be new to you and the words ‘sorry mate, we all knew about that one’ won’t echo around the comments section!
First up is this excellent 7”, Holy Rastafari, courtesy of Greek dub specialists, AMP Outernational and the London DJ, producer and mixer Jstar. You may well be familiar with Jstar, as well as his own releases he is a prolific re-mixer and has worked with a catalogue of stars.
Holy Rastafari is a big tune, a really big tune, the opening call to arms drags you in before the infectious bass hits you like a truck. Vocals from Darkk Angel, delivered in a deep rasping style, provide the perfect compliment to the hard edged dub earthquake. The b-side is my favourite though, as I do like the stripped back big bass version.
Have a listen below, I hope you like it and want to add it to your collection, I think it deserves wider recognition. Check out Jstar’s Bandcamp page for details on how to get your hands on a copy, although be quick because it looks like stocks are limited!
