This may sound strange but the first thing you notice about the Jah Life LP is the smell! Originally down for a 1980 release the album sleeves were printed and ready, but the actual disc didn’t quite make it. I am not sure the reasons why, but we all know that the reggae industry quite often doesn’t operate in an orthodox way.

Despite the musty sleeves this album is a gem. Ten cracking dubs masterminded by The Scientist and backed by the full force of the Roots Radics Band. Highlight for me was Shaolin Dub, with it’s laid back driving rhythm and minimal Barrington Levy vocals adding some light to the dark dub soup.

This album should be in every reggae collectors collection, pick it up from DKR direct or you local record emporium. You won’t be disappointed…..
